Jim nodded. "At ease, cadet," he said. Scotty had ever been skeptical, and assuming this one bore any resemblance to the one they knew, he would take more convincing. His trust needed to be earned. And the kid would have to be convinced of something if they were going to let him out of the brig. He did not, at the moment, appear violent.
"We're going to have to leave you here until we determine where you're from and convince you we mean you no harm," he said. He was tired, Spock was tired, and Jim needed to know what the hell was going on. "Are there any questions you would like to ask in the meantime? Anything you won't dismiss out of hand, that is."
